Would it really be Christmas without taking in a version of “A Christmas Carol?” Based on the 1843 novel by Charles Dickens, the Players’ Ring will take it to the stage on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through December 23.

See “It’s a Wonderful Life” in a whole new way. New Hampshire Theatre Project will present it as a live radio play at Portsmouth’s West End Theatre. The show opens on December 14 and runs through the December 30.
If you’ve never heard Ed Gerhard’s guitar music, you really must attend Ed Gerhard’s 36th Annual Christmas Guitar Concert. It will be held on both Friday and Saturday evenings, December 14 and 15 at the South Church in Portsmouth.

Who says there’s no such thing as a freebie? The Portsmouth Police Department announced just days ago that the city is giving shoppers, diners and browsers the gift of free parking from December 16-25. This is for on-street parking only, and doesn’t include the parking garages. Time limits on spaces will still be enforced.
