The Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad Train travels from Meredith NH along Meredith Bay. It is a downhill ride most of the way from Meredith to Weirs Beach. Shortly we pass through an area with an unobstructed view of the lake with Mt Belknap in the background. Now we are on a level with the lake and shortly we arrive at Weirs Beach, home of the MV MT Washington. Formerly a summer colony for tourist who would ride up from Boston on the Boston and Maine Railroad where they could disembark to continue their trip along the lake using the the railroad owned steamship, or stay at one of the Weirs Beach Grand Hotels. Now the area is occupied by arcades, amusements and food establishments and is the centerpoint of the Annual Laconia Motorcycle Week event started and held each year since 1923.
