The concert features two talented and uplifting performers, each a storied cantor and musician: our part-time Cantor Shira Nafshi, and Cantor Micah Morgovsky, who is visiting us from Temple Sinai in Stamford, CT. These two remarkable cantors studied together at the Hebrew Union College School of Sacred Music and will perform together for the first time ever at this concert. In addition to their accomplished cantorial careers and mastery over several musical instruments, each of these cantors has also chosen a Rabbi as a life partner, is a devoted parent, and enjoys rich and diverse passions: Shira can be found around horses as a rider, trainer, instructor, and farrier; Micah is a Certified Zentangle Teacher, miniature enthusiast, and Broadway fanatic.
Please plan to join us as they offer up an evening of inspiration and joy encompassing both Jewish tradition and modern life: a concert that will take us on a musical journey from Bimah to Broadway.
The program will begin promptly at 7:00pm with Havdalah followed by the concert. Attendees are also invited to enjoy dessert and discussion immediately following the performance in the downstairs social hall.
All proceeds will benefit the Temple Israel Portsmouth Musical Enrichment Fund.
