10 Fun Things to Do on New Year’s Eve in New Hampshire

How will you ring in 2019? Will you do so with friends, as a couple or with the whole family? There are lots of fun New Year’s Eve events in the Granite State. Whether it’s at Portsmouth’s wonderful First Night event or snow tubing at Pat’s Peak, here are the best NYE celebrations happening in New Hampshire this year. 

First Night, Portsmouth, NH

First Night Portsmouth starts at sundown on December 31 and finishes with the dawning of 2019. Enjoy live performances, arts and crafts, ice sculptures, and more. Wentworth by the Sea, New Castle, NH

Don black tie couture and attend Royal New Year’s Eve at Wentworth by the Sea in New Castle. The elegant night out includes dinner and dancing in the grand hotel’s ballroom. A King and Queen will be chosen as 2019 is rung in. Tickets are $185.95 per person. 

Murphy’s Taproom, Manchester, NH

Murphy’s Taproom will be ringing in the New Year with live music and no cover charge. Not up for spending big bucks to celebrate the dawn of 2019? This is the place to be. Off the List—a Granite State favorite—will provide live music for dancing. Rock the night away starting at 9 p.m.

Live Free or Die Laughing, Portsmouth, NH

Laugh your way into 2019 at Live Free or Die Laughing at the Sheraton in Portsmouth. Featuring nationally renowned comedians from Comedy Central, the Conan O’Brien Show and more, laugh to the antics of Jimmy Dunn, Mike Whitman and Abhishek Shah. The early show starts at 8:30 and the late show begins at 10:30 p.m. The late show includes a champagne toast at midnight. Is there any better way to ring in 2019 than with laughter? Tickets for the early show are $28 and the late show is $38.

The Governor’s Inn, Rochester, NH

A half hour north of Portsmouth, laughter will ring in 2019 as well. The Governor’s Inn in Rochester presents their New Year’s Eve 2019 Comedy Ball. Tickets are $75, which includes dinner, a comedy show and dancing. Kyle Crawford, a finalist on Last Comic Standing, is the headlining act. Doors open at 8 p.m., with drinks and hors d’oeuvres beginning shortly thereafter.

Pat’s Peak Ski Area, Henniker, NH

Ring in the New Year with the whole family at Pat’s Peak Ski Area. “New Year’s in Motion” is the theme, and the celebration begins at 6 p.m. Take part in snow tubing, skiing, snowboarding, a comedy show and raffles for great prizes. There will be dancing to the McMurphy’s, food stations, party favors, a champagne toast at midnight and a fireworks display, too. The slopes stay open until 10 p.m., so families can choose which activities are best suited to their own. Ticket prices vary, dependent upon whether or not activity on the slopes will be part of your New Year’s Eve. Check the website for cost options.

Portsmouth Gas Light Co., Portsmouth, NH

Channel your inner Jay Gatsby and attend the Gatsby New Year’s Eve Party at the Portsmouth Gaslight Co. Doors open at 8 p.m., and the bar stays open until 1:30 a.m. General admission includes passed hors d’oeuvres, party favors, a champagne toast at midnight and a late-night buffet. VIP tickets include private service, an upgraded champagne toast at midnight, reserved seating and an exclusive gift bag. Tickets are available online. Cocktail attire is appreciated.

Santa’s Village, Jefferson, NH

For wholesome family fun on New Year’s Eve, head to Santa’s Village in Jefferson to take part in their New Year’s Eve Partybration. Beginning at 4 p.m., families can ride the rides, enjoy food and beverages and dance to music provided by a DJ. Fireworks begin at 8 p.m. This is perfect for families who want to celebrate the New Year, but not stay up until the wee hours—plus, the kids get to have fun, too. Tickets are available online only.

Masquerade Ball, Concord, NH

Ring in 2019 at a Masquerade Ball at the Grappone Center, Courtyard by Marriott, in Concord. Guests can dress incognito or pick up a complimentary mask at the door. New Year’s Eve Gala at Headliner’s Comedy Club, Manchester, NH
